Employment Based Training Using training credits to fund your training
If you are resident in Devon & Cornwall, training credits will be issued by Prosper. Training credits can help you obtain the training you need; they will pay training costs, and will contribute towards travel and accommodation costs. Training is based mainly in the workplace (Employment Based Training), where you will gain the level of skill required by national industry standards, and will work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). This qualification will be recognised if you change jobs. NVQ's prove to employers your level of competence to do the job. Employment Based Training will be enhanced by residential block courses held at Bicton College where you will be taught the technical aspects of your NVQ. Your individual training plan, which will be reviewed every few months with your employer in the workplace, will help you plan your training and monitor your progress. Bicton currently offers the following Employment Based Training schemes (please turn to the appropriate pages to read more about these courses): Agriculture Fish Husbandry Sport and Recreation Environmental Conservation Gamekeeping Service Engineering (agricultural machinery or garden machinery) Horse Care & Management Animal Care Commercial Horticulture Amenity Horticulture Floristry You can start training through training credits at any time of the year. We will carry out a safety inspection, answer questions and commence your training. If you do not already have an employer, please return the application form and we will help you find one.
