due South Soundtrack #1
Usually soundtracks taken from TV series and movies can proves
to be a bit of a rip off to the buyer, simply because half the
music isn't on the show or movie
This soundtrack proves to be the exception, it's well worth the
money and all the music is from season one.
The CD and tape holds a mix of Original score music written by Jay Semko, Jack Lenz and John MaCarthy as well as music from Sarah McLaclan, The Guess Who and other well know Canadian bands.
Paul Gross makes his music debut on this CD with Ride Forever which was used in All the Queen's Horses, a tune you won't be able to get out of your head for a week afterwards.
Overall the CD is well worth the money and it's one you can easily listen to over and over again and dosen't get wearing after the fifth time unlike many CDs.
If your a true fan of due South, you'll already have this CD, if your not, then get it anyway.
due South Soundtrack #2
This is one fantastic soundtrack, it's far more rock like from the first one but then it does reflect the nature of the 3rd and 4th season, there are of course the slow numbers from Sarah McLaclan and Dutch Robinson but generally it's a upbeat soundtrack
The only mystery to me is why From a Million Miles is on the second track, I mean it was almost one of the very first pieces of music in the pilot all those years ago, maybe it was simply overlooked the first time round. No matter what the reasons are it's great to see it making a appearence at long last, it has to be one of the best pieces on the CD.
Paul Gross also makes another appearence with 32 Down on the Robert Mackenzie which was used in the episode 'Mountie on the Bounty' with great effect. I will admit I am not a fan of season 3 and 4, and it's not because of Callum, I think he actually does a good job, the series just dosen't cut it for me. I will say that MOTB was one of the best of the season. Anyway back to the matter at hand.
It is worth spending out on so why not treat yourself.
Two Houses - Paul Gross & David Keeley
If your into country music then you will like this CD. It's not something I am overly into but I still enjoyed every minute of it, it's not the typical country and western style which really gets on my nerves. It's country music with a Canadian edge!
Invest in it, you will keep on listening to it time and time again it doesn't wear on you that easily and even if Paul Gross' signing voice isn't the greatest in the world you will still enjoy listening to both him and David Keeley.
