Planning

Princesshay

The biggest planning disaster facing Exeter currently is Land Securities proposals for Princesshay.
The scale of the proposals is quite breathtaking - It stretches for an area of 8 acres from Catherine Street to Paris Street - An area equivalent to six football pitches.
At almost half a million sq. ft of shop floor space, the scheme envisages increasing the shopfloor space in the centre of Exeter by some 40%.
It is not only an environmental disaster it is also a retail disaster.
Exeter Friends of the Earth campaigned with Exeter Peoples Choice to stop the proposals. But we were unsuccessful.
The proposals will be completed in 2007/2008

Bad for the city,
  bad for the environment
    and bad for business
