Real Food

The Real Food Campaign

The Real Food campaign focusses on 6 areas:
  • Avoiding GM food
Despite the fact that many stores ban GM foods, they may still contain GM ingredients. See our GM ingredients guide listed below.
  • Buying Local Organic Food
Look out for the Soil Association logo to be certain of organic produce. Avoid Food Miles by buying produce from Devon.
  • Buying Fair Trade products
Many products from abroad can appear cheap because of the use of slave labour. Fair Trade products guarantee a decent wage, and puts money back into the local community.
  • Shopping locally
Shop at the supermarket less, and use your local stores more often.
  • Buying Direct
Use Farm Shops more often. Consider using a local Veg Box scheme. Visit your local Farmers Market. There are 17 in Devon.
  • Growing your own
The one way to be sure that you can trust what you're eating.
Visit the FoE Saturday Stall to sign our GM petition, and the petition calling for greater support for Organic Farming

What you can do

1.. Write to your MP
MPs should now be realising that if they support Genetic Engineering, then they are risking your vote at the next election. Despite the fact that the House of Commons Restaurant has banned GE ingredients, many MPs still support Genetic Engineering.
Please write a letter to your MP.

2.. Always look out for GE Free Food.
Buy Organic produce with Soil Association logo.
