Traffic Reduction in Exeter?

Despite all the talk about reducing the damage caused by traffic, neither Exeter City Council nor Devon County Council have adopted the principle of Traffic Reduction.

Our stall has a petition calling on Exeter City Council and Devon County Council to jointly set a target of 30% traffic reduction for Exeter, by the year 2010.

As part of this campaign Exeter FoE has a 10 point traffic reduction for Exeter.

Fuel Prices Update:

On the 14th January 2001, Exeter Friends of the Earth were asking people on the streets whether they thought that Fuel Prices should be LOWER or HIGHER. We had a Fuel Price Swingometer gauging the mood of people who voted.

Surprisingly 47 people voted for HIGHER fuel prices and only 17 people wanted LOWER. This is a clear message that most people take a responsible view to the issue, and possible explains why the Farmers and Truckers campaigns have fizzled out.

Cycling Strategy

A strategy to enable Exeter to become the cycling city of the southwest will be available from this site shortly.
