Imag@nation is a three year project celebrating and exploring digital creativity. It will bring together artists, arts organisations, youth and community groups, educators and media companies. A series of artistic events residencies, commissions, roadshows and collaborative projects will address new ways of working with technology.
Imag@nation will encourage hands on creativity by all participants and maximum interaction with the public. The focus of the project will be in the South West, building on the region's existing strengths in digital creativity, and its international reputation for working with the still and moving image.
The text above is taken from publicity material issued by the project.
The project is now nearly half way through its time scale.

What it does not say is that the project has received over £400,000 of public funding.
Enough funding to keep an organisation like The Photographers Centre running for the next 30 years or ten similar organisations for the duration of this project.
The funding largely provided by the National Lottery was acquired by somewhat dubious means by South West Arts using a 'front' organisation as they legally can not apply for funding themselves.
In line with current SWA thinking it is based on the fridges of the region and has ignored most of the existing strengths and skills within it.

There is an Imag@nation web site (now called da2 for some reason)
at - http://www.imaganation.org.uk
They are on their third attempt.
This one seems to work unlike the previous two.
They have taken 18 months to get the current site on line, it consists of a couple of pages which are out of date.
I would comment on the style and design of the site it it had one.
Still what can you expect when they are working on such a tight budget.
The link above is included to allow you to make your own mind up about the project, its worth and relevance to the cause of promoting photography and new technology in the South West.
