See our Supporters Wall
A Truly Low Carbon Exeter by 2020.

This group is a response to the huge Arctic Ice Melt in September 2012.

This was probably the clearest signal that human beings are changing the climate, and that there was a small window of opportunity to transform to a genuine low carbon society. We see before us the biggest emergency that human beings have ever faced up to.

We have - at most - 8 years to reduce CO2 emissions by about 90%. That’s more than 10% emissions cut every year. And we really have no choice but to do this. It’s simple to say, but very challenging to achieve.
For a detailed analysis of the scientific basis for 2020 Vision see Kevin Anderson’s slide show here - http://www.slideshare.net/DFID/professor-kevin-anderson-climate-change-going-beyond-dangerous

The only way to achieve this is to start thinking the unthinkable. A super-human effort that as many people as possible play a part in. The good news is that a low carbon society is a great place to live.

What we do in Exeter has to be replicated elsewhere.

And there’s no time to delay. The time for dithering is over. The time to act is now.

The members of this group have committed themselves to play a big part in the transformation. We act together.
