The Adriatic Sea

Sailing in the Adriatic, interrupted by the recent regional conflicts, is now right back at the top of places to go. The Dalmation islands scattered like emeralds along a glorious coastline, are there to be explored. Pine scents and earthy Mediterranean colours contrast with deep blue sea and white houses with red roofs, Anchoring in a warm secluded and picturesque cove is sheer heaven. In small fishing ports you will meet a friendly and open- hearted people for whom the sea is a way of life. Harbours and anchorages are uncrowded and peaceful.

Our associated are a small British-run company, Harlequin Sailing. The owners have lived in Croatia for years and know the country well. They offer personal service and advice to all charterers, and are available to help if needed anywhere and any time.

Harlequin sailing specialise in two boat models, the Bavaria 41 and Elan 431. Prices vary through the season, and are given in German Deutschmarks. Prices are for one week. A security deposit of DM 3,000 is required for all boats.

Charters are from Saturday 1700 to Saturday 0900. 2 Skippers are available at DM 150 per day, Hostess/Cook DM120 per day 3 Outboard DM 150 per week. Fuel used must be replaced or paid for. 5 There is an obligatory cleaning charge of between DM 100 and DM 200, and a transit log charge of DM 35. 6 All local taxes are included in the price. 7 20% payable to confirm booking, 20% on signing contract, 60% 28 days prior to start of charter. 8 On 18th March 1999, Barclays were selling DM at 2.8614 to the Pound. The 1-Month forward rate was 2.8724. 9 Charges are paid to Breakaway Sailing in Sterling and converted into DM at the Barclays rate applicable on the day payment is received.
