Family History in IPPLEPEN, Devon

Links to.......Joy French.......Arthur French

For many years I have been corresponding with people in England and overseas about families with ancestors in this large village, which is between Newton Abbot and Totnes. It has been an important centre for the land between the Teign and Dart since the 9th century. The church is St Andrew's, and there has been a Methodist community for over 200 years. I have on my Brother's Keeper files family trees of several Ipplepen families, for example: LANGLER, PALK. I have some details of TOZER & CAME (from S of the Dart), and WALTERS who have representatives in the village now, as well as emigrants in Australasia and elsewhere.  I am constantly adding information from new contacts.

Most of my TOZER/CAME details are on-line at Brian Tozer's Home Page.

A database, of over 32,000 names of people related to me, by blood or by marriage, is kept at Rootsweb's WorldConnect site. The families mentioned are distantly related to my late wife Joy by marriage, and you can search my WorldConnect database for them. You can move to it by clicking here

I have other information from the parish registers of Ipplepen and Torbryan, especially before 1870, and some other documents, as well as correspondence with descendants. For more details, click here.
