Leave with one van, come back with 3!
In September 1997, a trip was made to collect Chewies 1958 bus that was in Switzerland. 4 of us left England in his hightop van (Chewie, Rob (his brother), myself and John).
14 hours later, we arrived in Switzerland. The bus had to be pushed up some hills as part of the Carb had fallen off!
Finally in Switzerland.
We arrived at Stefans garage, to pick up the `58 (and to have a few beers!)
We had a good look round Stefans garage, he had lots of cool stuff, including 2 Barndoors!
This pickup was cheap for £800.
On our way to VW Euro.
We collected the 58 and headed for the show in Holland. After getting lost in Luxemburg (!), a decision was made to take a map newer than 1974, the next time abroad!

Vw Euro is a great show, and it was at this show there was a strange bus for sale...
Would you buy this bus ??
The bus was a ex. Dutch army mobile canteen. It had not been used for some time, and some mice moved in. I nearly bought this bus, but at the time I only had a small parking space and this bus is a meter longer than standard.
Chewie quickly stepped in and bought this bus.
Chewie now has 3 busses!!.
After returning home from the show, the next day we borrowed a trailer, and headed back to Holland in my Granada. We arrived at 3AM to pick the bus up!!
There was a slight hitch, the trailer we borrowed didn`t have a winch!! The Kemperink was towed up onto the trailer, and we set off. It was now 4.15AM!!
On the way home, we stopped just about everywhere!
It was a slow journey home as any speed over 35 MPH would make the trailer wobble. It took 14 hours to get to Calais!! And the granada kept boiling over. Still we made it home.
Bus parking only!
