Our detached thatched holiday cottage is known as White Witches, so named by the previous long term tenants in the 50's as they were so happy there after escaping the big city. When the garden is in full bloom it is the epitomy of the chocolate box cottage. The large lawned area is great for children to play or just relaxing in. It has been updated to give accommodation for modern 4 star living but still retains its character. Ideal for couples or a family. Self-catering but we can offer you a traditional farmhouse breakfast as an extra.

Situated in a little valley on traditional family farm in the heart of Mid-Devon.

The enclosed lawned garden has a picnic table and chairs with plenty of space for children to play and adults to relax. We have a 10ft trampoline with enclosure (use of which is entirely at your own risk). Also an 8x6 garden shed for storage of bikes etc.

A gate leads to open fields sometimes with our sheep wandering by and the river (bring your wellies) where you can wander along its banks and watch the wildlife, ducks, herons or you may be lucky to catch the flashing blue of a kingfisher or an otter. Count the number of different birds you can see or different wild flowers.

There are a wide variety of birds to spot , plenty of buzzards, even little owls and a barn owl. There are breakfast size trout in the river should you bring your fishing rod with you.

We will accept one well behaved dog in this property for a small extra charge.

Downstairs

From the garden path the porch leads you into a dining room with small ornamental inglenook fireplace. Round table extends to a larger oval one with 6 chairs.

To the left is an oak fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, built in electric cooker & hob, fridge /freezer etc. and sufficient cutlery and crockery for up to 6 people.

From the kitchen a door leads out through to a utility room with washing machine & tumble drier. There is a small toilet & washbasin leading off.

With a glazed door leading back out to the garden & patio.Lovely to sit on in our rocking seat. All downstair rooms have slate floors.

To the right of the dining room one step leads you down into the sitting room with woodburner, colour TV with Freeview, video & DVD, CD/radio player, 3 piece leather suite and pouffee. A telephone is located here number given on booking.

From here a door leads through to a small downstairs room with the stairs leading up to 2 bedrooms (which can be used as a single bedroom with a curtain pulled across)

Upstairs

Stairs lead you up to 2 bedrooms left & right with a bathroom in front of you.

To the right a delightful quaint room with double bed and exposed beams.

It has a shower ensuite.

To the left a bedroom with double & single beds.

The bathroom has w.c, washbasin & bath with bath/ shower mixer taps.

Sleeping 5 plus cot upstairs in total.

Pine furniture in both rooms and clock radios.

Fitted with mains smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

They both have lovely views over the fields to the river.

For your arrival beds will be made up and towels provided. We also provide you with fresh milk for a welcome cup of tea or coffee. Fresh Flowers. The latest local TV guide and eggs from our own hens when we have them.

Price includes all heating, electric, 20% VAT, & linen(sheets & towels but not beach towels)telephone & broadband rental Low season £300, mid season £400 to £650 in August. Prices held for 2012
